About 14 miles to the west is Port McNeill, the closest large town in the region. Alder Bay or Telegraph Cove lie about 5 miles, by water from Pacific Outback Resort.
For anyone wishing to drive there is parking available at Alder Bay Campsite, and is about six miles south of Port McNeill. Parking costs about $5.00 per day, per unit. Both have good cement boat launching ramps for anyone bringing their own boat.
Moorage fees at Pacific Outback Resort are $.70 per foot, per day. Transportation from Pacific Outback Resort to Hanson Island via water taxi can be arranged for $50.00 CDN, return fare. It is a good idea to overnight in Campbell River on the day before arrival and drive the last 2½ hours in the morning.
